Our coaching team brings a comprehensive approach to athlete development, combining on-the-road coaching, interactive learning, and daily education sessions to help you improve every aspect of your cycling performance.

  • Daily on-the-bike coaching focused on skills, pacing, climbing, group riding, and descending.

  • Small group Coach Corner sessions each afternoon offer direct interaction, feedback, and Q&A with expert coaches.

  • A low coach-to-rider ratio ensures personalized attention and meaningful engagement throughout the week.

  • Six or more ride groups daily, each with defined pace and effort targets, help you train in the group best suited to your fitness and goals.

  • Daily rider meetings and debriefs cover key performance skills like pacelining, climbing, and descending.

  • Evening education sessions led by Head Coach Tim Cusick and Dr. Namrita Brooke, covering science-based training, nutrition, and athlete development.

This is your opportunity to ride, learn, and grow alongside some of the best coaches in the industry—turning every day into a step forward in your cycling journey.

The weather

April in Mallorca offers ideal conditions for spring training, with mild temperatures and plenty of sunshine. It’s warm enough for long rides in short sleeves and relaxing by the pool, but cool enough to stay comfortable during climbs and extended days in the saddle.

  • Average daytime high: 19ºC / 67ºF – perfect for long, sunny rides.

  • Evening lows: Around 10ºC / 50ºF – pack a few layers for cooler nights.

  • Typically low humidity and minimal rainfall, making for consistent training conditions.

  • Abundant daylight hours to maximize time outdoors—on and off the bike.

Mallorca’s spring climate helps you stay focused on riding, recovery, and enjoying the beautiful island setting.

Ride Groups

The Ride Groups

At BaseCamp Mallorca, we believe great rides come from riding with the right group. Our ride system is designed specifically for Level 1 and Level 2 cyclists (learn more about rider levels here), ensuring you'll find the right pace, the right challenge, and the right people to ride with so you can focus on building fitness, skills, and confidence every day.

  • Multiple ride groups (typically 5-7) each day, with clearly defined pace and power targets so you can train at the right intensity for your fitness and goals

  • Supportive and skill-aligned groupings allow you to ride with others of similar strength and experience, whether you're pushing your limits or riding steady

  • Daily adjustments encouraged; move between groups as needed throughout the week based on how you're feeling or what you're targeting

  • Experienced coaches and ride leaders guide every group, ensuring a smooth, safe, and well-organized ride experience

  • A culture of encouragement and inclusion, where riders challenge themselves while supporting one another on and off the bike

  • Daily self-guided "explore" rides offer a fun, low-stress option for those wanting a shorter spin, perfect for soaking in Mallorca's stunning scenery, visiting local highlights, and enjoying a more relaxed day on the bike

No matter your pace, you'll never ride alone, and you'll always ride with purpose.

Travel

The Travel

Travel

Palma de Mallorca Airport (PMI) is the only airport on the island, about a 50-minute drive from the camp resort. If you arrive and depart outside of our free airport transfer times, it's super simple to hire a taxi at the airport or book one ahead of time; we recommend Taxi PMI (when booking, select Playa de Muro as the dropoff location, and type Viva Blue as the dropoff address on the second screen). You can also easily rent a car.

We offer free group pickups at the airport at the following times:

  • Thursday, April 9, 3:00 p.m.

  • Friday, April 10, 10:00 a.m.

The camp kicks off on Friday with shakeout rides during the day and a welcome reception at 5:00 p.m. We recommend checking in at the hotel in plenty of time to get settled first. Want to arrive early or stay later to explore the island on your own? Book some extra nights at our group rate!

The camp ends Saturday, April 18. We offer two free group transports to the airport as follows:

  • Leaving the hotel at 3:45 a.m.

  • Leaving the hotel at 8:15 a.m.

Travel support

We can add extra nights to your stay at our group rate; just let us know what nights you need! The hotel does sell out, so be sure to send in your arrival and departure dates as soon as you have them.

Not sure about selecting flights or shuttles? Contact us for travel support services and let us help you make the best travel arrangements possible.

Travel DOCUMENTS

As you prepare to travel, please make sure that your passport expires later than six months after the trip ends. If your passport expires before October 10, 2026, we highly recommend renewing it now, as the renewal process is currently subject to serious delays.

The ETIAS travel authorization may be required for travel in 2026; watch for updates.

Travel Insurance

Even with the best possible planning, there are always elements beyond our control like flight delays, illnesses, and family emergencies. A good travel insurance policy will reduce the stress of these situations by covering most (if not all) of their extra cost. We strongly recommend coverage specific to COVID-19. Here’s a helpful guide to finding travel insurance.

SIGHTSEEING

There's more to do in Mallorca than ride your bike! If you need sightseeing and day trip suggestions, be sure to check out this list of our favorite things to do on the island when we're not pedaling

Pre-Camp Package Add-On

A lot of athletes feel so much better at camp when they arrive on the island early and are able to settle into the hotel, build or rent their bikes without any rush, explore the area a little, and get some extra rest before camp officially starts. This is what our coaches do each year, and we highly recommend it, so to make it easier for our camp attendees, we are offering an optional pre-camp add-on package that includes the following:

  • Two nights of lodging before camp with half board (includes breakfast and dinner at the hotel, starting with Wednesday dinner)

  • Two complimentary airport transfer times on Wednesday, April 8, at 1:00 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. (the shuttles times may be adjusted to accommodate as many arrivals as possible but will never be adjusted to exclude anyone who has already signed up for a shuttle)

  • An optional, casual, no-drop shakeout ride Thursday afternoon with our coaching team

We believe that giving yourself a little extra time on the island will greatly improve your experience. Our goals are to help save you a little money by using our airport shuttles and to create an easy way to enhance your camp experience.

Our coaches will be on site at the Viva Blue starting Thursday, April 9, and will be available to help with building your bike and other preparation as needed.

If you're renting a bike on the island, feel free to choose your rental start date at any time up till camp begins on Friday.

The cost for this pre-camp add-on package is $275 per person if you're sharing a room with someone else or $375 if you've got a single-occupancy room (if you upgrade to a premium room, the cost for the pre-camp package will increase accordingly; email us for details). The typical cost of one-way transportation from the airport to our hotel for two people is about 100 Euros, so we hope this package will help you save some money while easing the transition to island time.

You can sign up for the pre-camp package when you register for the camp, or you can let us know any time that you'd like to add it to your registration.

Please note that you still can add extra nights to your lodging before or after camp at our group rate even if you do not wish to book the official pre-camp package.

BikeRental

The Bike Options

BRING YOUR BIKE

Bringing your own bike to camp has obvious advantages in individual comfort. Before your trip, we suggest getting a tuneup at your local bike shop so it’s ready to roll for your week of riding.

Once at camp, our team will help you assemble your bike and make sure it’s ready to ride. Each day we’ll check to make sure everything is safe and ready to roll, and for major mechanical work, you can visit the onsite shop at the Cycling Station. Bring your bike in good shape, and we’ll keep it clean, lubed, and running great each day!

Check out these helpful resources:

RENT A BIKE

The Viva Blue boasts one of the most modern cycling stations on the island the on-site Viva Cycling Station by S’Escapada, which offers a large selection of new, high-end rental bikes, including excellent Cannondale and Scott models. The cost is reasonable, but booking early is important! The process is simple: click here and follow the prompts (if you're asked for a booking or room number, just type "BaseCamp group"). For a more detailed tutorial, check out our guide to renting a bike in Mallorca. When you check into your room at the front desk, the staff will hand you your bike key along with your room key.

If Bikes Viva doesn't have the model you want, the Rad Salon BMC Playa de Muro shop is just around the corner and another great option.

FAQs

FAQs

What's a typical day at camp like?

Watch Coach Tim's video describing a day at camp!

How does tipping work in Spain?

Tipping in Spain is generally slightly lower than in the USA, but be prepared to tip about 5-10%. We recommend carrying at least 20 Euros in cash each day, along with your credit/debit card.

Can I do laundry at the Viva Blue?

The hotel has three washers and dryers available for hotel guests for a small fee; just keep in mind these can be busy and often in use since there are so many cyclists with the same need for clean clothing. The laundry cycles are also very long (over an hour), so it's best to do laundry late at night or early in the morning. Each hotel room has a balcony with a clothes line for drying.

The hotel offers a dropoff laundry service by the kilo (around 18 Euros for 5 kilograms), which is not a bad deal. Just leave your clothes at the front desk in the morning, and you'll get them back the next day in the afternoon (except there's no return on Sundays).

Can my friend register for camp and share a room with me after the camp is full?

Generally, yes! However, there is often a waiting list of folks wanting to fill any spots that open, so the first step is for your friend to join the wait list. Please also email us to let us know that you would like to share your room with him/her.

What type of power adapter do I need?

You'll need either Type C or Type F power adapters rated for at least 220v and 50hz.

What should I wear on the bike?

Coach Tim put together a video answering this question; watch it here. He also added a quick video on why to bring a rain jacket.

How can we stay healthy at camp, and what happens if we get sick?

Coach Tim addresses health concerns and explains our COVID-19 procedures in this video.

Have questions about this camp?

Book a consultation or reach out by email, and we'll tell you all about camp and answer any questions you have.

This trip was amazing - one of the best of my lifetime. No joke. Thank you so much. My only feedback is that I wish there was another way to share pictures/communicate outside of Facebook, for those of us not on it. As for improvements, I can’t think of a single thing - bravo, and thank you so much for this wonderful, amazing life experience. I was amazed at how much I could push myself physically, and I have made new life-long friends.  - Rachelle R.

BaseCamp is the best in the business. Ideal location for an amazing cycling adventure. The coaches had a challenging group this year with different rider abilities, they did an outstanding job keeping everyone safe and created an amazing sense of community. A truly amazing group of campers this year. I returned home with many new friends.  - Jan W.

I had an amazing experience at camp. I felt like I was at a family reunion where everyone wanted to play bikes. :-) I’ll be forever thankful. Already have deposit down for next year. Be warned, I'll still be a hugger.  - Bee K.
