The Riding

Iconic Roads, Unforgettable Views

Get ready to ride through one of the most scenic and celebrated cycling regions in the country. In Solvang you'll train alongside a supportive community while exploring the diverse terrain and beauty of California’s Central Coast. Each day brings a new adventure: quiet roads, crisp air, and wide-open views that elevate both your performance and your passion for the ride.

We've handpicked routes that blend challenge and beauty, featuring legendary climbs, coastal stretches, and vineyard-lined valleys:

  • Figueroa Mountain: A classic pro-level climb that tests your legs and rewards you with panoramic views from the summit.

  • Foxen Wine Trail: Glide through vineyards and rolling hills on this peaceful, picturesque loop.

  • Tepesquet Canyon: A hidden gem with twisting roads, light traffic, and epic terrain.

  • Jalama Beach: Ride to the Pacific Ocean and soak in the sea breeze on one of our most scenic and satisfying routes.

From big climbs to relaxed endurance loops, every mile is supported, coached, and unforgettable.

The average high temperature in Solvang in the month of October is 85ºF (29ºC), warm enough to spend long days on the bike or sunbathing by the pool. You'll want to bring some warmer clothes for the evenings, as the air typically cools to around 50ºF (10ºC) at night.

The Ride Groups

At BaseCamp Solvang, we believe that great rides start with great group dynamics. That's why we've built a group ride system that ensures every cyclist finds the right pace, challenge, and camaraderie, no matter where you are in your cycling journey.

  • Multiple ride groups each day, with clearly defined pace and power targets so you can train at the right intensity for your fitness and goals

  • Supportive and skill-aligned groupings allow you to ride with others of similar strength and experience, whether you're pushing your limits or riding steady

  • Daily adjustments are encouraged; move between groups as needed throughout the week based on how you’re feeling or what you're targeting

  • Experienced coaches and ride leaders guide every group, ensuring a smooth, safe, and well-organized ride experience

  • A culture of encouragement and inclusion where riders challenge themselves while supporting one another on and off the bike

No matter your pace, you'll never ride alone, and you'll always ride with purpose.

Group departure shuttles to the Santa Barbara airport are available at the following times:

  • Saturday, leaving the hotel at 6:00 a.m.

  • Saturday, leaving the hotel at 11:00 a.m.

If your flight itinerary doesn't allow you to take a group shuttle, it's super simple to hire a taxi or Uber at the airport or book one ahead of time, and there are lots of rental cars available if you'd like to have four wheels available throughout your trip in addition to two.

Travel Insurance

Even with the best possible planning, there are always elements beyond our control like flight delays, illnesses, and family emergencies. A good travel insurance policy will reduce the stress of these situations by covering most (if not all) of their extra cost. We strongly recommend coverage specific to COVID-19. Here’s a helpful guide to finding travel insurance.
