Combine extended workouts
For athletes with higher-volume plans, you'll notice some Tuesdays and Thursdays include additional workouts on your TrainingPeaks calendar (typically labeled workout extensions) so you can join the group ride for the core hour and complete the remaining Endurance work before or after. Unfortunately the two separate workouts can create some issues with Hexis fueling guidance, as the demands of a continuous two-hour ride differ from two shorter sessions.
To resolve this, we can edit the workouts in TrainingPeaks to add your extra Endurance time before or after the main workout. Simply follow the instructions below, and watch the video at the bottom for a visual demonstration.
To add the extension before the main workout
On your TrainingPeaks calendar, click into the main workout (the one not labeled extension), hover over the blue bars at the top of the workout screen (this is the structured workout), and click on the Endurance section you want to change. In the workout section that is now highlighted below the blue bars, change the duration to add whatever duration was prescribed in your workout extension. Click "Save and Close" to save, then delete the separate workout extension.
To add the extension after the main workout
On your TrainingPeaks calendar, click into the main workout (the one not labeled extension), hover over the blue bars at the top of the workout screen (this is the structured workout), and find an Aerobic Endurance section. When you hover over a section, there will be tooltip that pops up that says "Drag to copy this block;" simply click on the Aerobic Endurance block and drag to the end of the workout, right before the Cool Down, and let go; this will duplicate the Aerobic Endurance section. Click on the copied Endurance section, and in the workout detail section that is now highlighted below the blue bars, change the duration to add whatever duration was prescribed in your workout extension. Click "Save and Close" to save, then delete the separate workout extension.
